MARBLE RUN
As part of our Science learning involving the Physical World, we explored marbles, not only because Mrs M is always loosing hers, but we wanted to create a functional marble run.
We brought in a range of recyclable material from home and used objects from our classroom too.
Firstly, we looked at a range of images and had to decide in groups if they were moving or not.
After much experimentation, we learned that the steeper the slope, the faster the marble will travel across the floor. The lower the slope (gradient), the slower the marble.
Then Room 5 (our buddy class) came in so we could measure the 'fun' factor with our smaller friends

TWO STARS and a WISH
Ms Hall and Room 4 wanted an audience for their writing so...we said 'Yes please!"
We wandered across to our Teina students and listened to them read their writing, not once but twice.
Each person was responsible for one or two fellow learners and we practised our 'active listening' skills.
From there we were asked to record two things we REALLY liked about what we heard. We also had to share with Room 4, what they needed to improve for next time.
Here are some examples of us actively listening and responding as an audience.
Here is an example of Louise Dempsey's reflection of 'Two stars and a Wish' from 'The Writing Book'.
