KAPA HAKA SHOW 2016

The end of Term 2 saw the long awaited presentation of our Kapa Haka show that we have been practising hard to perform for our families.

We learned a himene (hymn), waiata-a-ringa (action song), poi and a haka.

Here are some snapshots of our lead up to our 10 minutes of fame, even if it was in our little corner of the world.

FAIRYTALES & MEASUREMENT

As part of our Fairytales learning we used measurement strategies to create a pathway for our characters to get to their destinations, whether that be their new home or the home of another character in the fairytale they read.

We used a co-ordinate system to describe locations and give directions, using grid references and points of the compass.

Here are examples of our measurement works using co-ordinates.

Joseph's Hurricanes

For reading we have been trialling the Tellagami app as a way for presenting our learning.
Throughout you will see the Year 4's identifying and summarising the main ideas from the non-fiction texts they read.
Our Year 5's located and summarised the main ideas by skimming or scanning, by identifying keywords, topic sentences, and key questions, or by using subheadings.

Here are examples of our learning in reading.
