DOODLE 4 GOOGLE 2015

As part of our challenge learning for Term 3, we took on the competition of

Doodle 4 Google 2015

We had to create a doodle for Google with this phrase as our motivation.

“If I could travel back in time I would...”

This is what we came up with.

Two of our classmates drawings were chosen to enter into the competition.

Their entries have been sent to Google and we wish them both the best of luck.
Stay tuned for details of their entries.

ADIDAS SCHOOL FUN RUN

This year as part of a fundraising venture, our school participated in the adidas School Fun Run.

This involved us seeking sponsorship for completing a set distance in the schools cross country.
Each class was encouraged to raise money for some much needed sports equipment.

After being postponed twice, the day of running arrived.

Here we are doing what we do well.

Congratulations to all participants. You gave it your all and left everything out there on the field.

To the children who raised money for our school.
Thank you, thank you, thank you

SPEECHES

Term 3 represents 'Speeches'.

This term was no different.
The students were given the opportunity to write and share something they were passionate about with their peers.

We had subjects from 'Why you should wash your hands, Chocolate, Why Video Games are Good for You and basketball' to name a few.

From our classrooms presentations, we chose children to go through to the Year group finals.

Congratulations to two of our people for coming in the top three in the Year 5 level.

TE WIKI O TE REO MAORI (Maori Language Week)

Every year in Aotearoa, our indigenious language is fostered in our NZ classrooms and this year was no exception.

In our school we held a day solely dedicated to Te Ao Maori (Maori World).
The children always look forward to this day.

This year they got to experience:

Waiata and waiata-a-ringa
Soap carving
Harakeke weaving
Cooking-fried bread and kumara chips
Poi making
Nga Toi (Visual Arts)

Here is a selection of photos from the day

TOKOHIA NGA TAMARIKI (How many children?)

As part of our learning for Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori, we read the text 'Tokohia nga tamariki' (How many children).

We translated the text from Maori into English and then constructed the information for our own families.
