E PAPA WAIARI

As a follow on from Music Day, Room 9 wanted to learn the Maori waiata; 'E papa Waiari'.
So for the past week they have been using 'ti rakau' (short sticks) to learn the actions to the song, which is very traditional in New Zealand Maori culture.

Here is a clip of one group practising their action song.

Have a look at some pictures that the children have come up with on their own.
Enjoy.

Please don't forget to leave a comment about what you enjoyed seeing.

  1. I like the ti rakau action song. I love how you kept smiling through the whole thing, even when you dropped the sticks. Can't wait to see more.
Do you know any other songs that involve ti rakau sticks? If so, can you post some more photos.
    Thanks Mrs M
